Paul Belmondo. A quel âge as-tu compris que ton père était un grand artiste ?
Jean-Paul Belmondo. Je n’ai pas le souvenir d’avoir pensé autre chose. Il a commencé à sculpter à 13 ans, alors imagine quel talent il possédait quand j’ai eu l’âge de raison !

Quand il t’a demandé de poser, enfant, pour ces deux bustes sublimes, avais-tu l’impression de faire quelque chose d’important ?
J’avais 5 ans. Pour moi, il s’agissait d’un amusement. Il me gratifiait d’une petite sucette comme récompense. Je ne me rendais pas encore compte. J’avais plutôt envie d’aller faire du patin.

Papy, je m’en souviens, dessinait partout, même sur les nappes au restaurant. As-tu les mêmes souvenirs ?
Il a toujours passé l’essentiel de son existence à cela. Il se levait à 7 heures et partait pour son atelier, avenue Denfert-Rochereau, où son premier geste était de poser une pomme épluchée sur le poêle Godin pour qu’elle embaume l’atmosphère. Il travaillait là douze heures de suite, chaque jour. Il ne rentrait qu’à 20 heures pour dîner.

Grand-père, avec ce musée, va ­passer à la postérité. Penses-tu que tes films, dont certains sont étudiés dans des écoles, auront le même ­impact dans le futur ?
Seul le travail de mon père compte. Dans dix ans, dans cent ans, il restera. A côté de cela, l’acteur est de passage.

'Mapamondul a fost bătut în lung și-n lat în numele: culturii, agriculturii, procuraturii, acupuncturii, conjuncturii, ciupiturii, progeniturii, nomenclaturii, contra-nomenclaturii etc. Timp de două decenii, țara a fost belită, popită şi răspopită. Integrată, dezintegrată și păpată. Ca să nu miște în front, a fost bătută peste bot, sistematic, cu muchia mesei. Acum, luați-o de unde nu (mai) e! Nu-i nimic, mai e loc de o carte de dialoguri cu ceilalți în care să explic că asta, cu ăștia, și-au scris-o singuri și m-au semnat în mod fraudulos. Eu usturoi n-am mâncat, gura nu-mi miroase. Ca și dățile trecute. Și, în fond, care-i problema? Scuzaţi, pardon, bonsoir – nema problema, problema nema! E mare forfotă pe coridoarele Puterii. Tragedia interfețelor miroase a dramoletă, căci toată tărășenia se rezumă la istorica dilemă: să se schimbe modificarea ori să se modifice schimbarea?'

'Nu există un singur răspuns la această întrebare. Există însă o ameninţare din „Epoca de Aur“, cea comparată de cineva cu „Epoca lui Pericle“. Este un mesaj peste care n-am putut trece niciodată, fiindcă el comprimă în chip cinic şi genial esenţa criminală a Epocii de Aur, care a început după unii în 1944, după alţii în 1948, după mulţi în 1971 etc. Şi care, după umila mea părere, n-a dispărut chiar cu totul în Decembrie 1989 – „Noi te omorîm, noi te reabilităm“.
Pot fi suficient de laş să mă las ucis de Ei, dar nu sînt lipsit cu totul de onoare ca să mă las reabilitat tot de Ei. Le propun un tîrg pe care aceste dosare îl pot susţine – hai să acceptăm că m-am sinucis. Şi pentru aşa ceva nu e nevoie de nici o reabilitare. '

Aceiaşi – cu care pot asculta Bach într-o tăcere fără dezacord – nu mi-au ascuns că nu mai pot citi Jurnalul lui Sebastian, după ziua de 23 August 1944: nu mai pot suporta bucuria lui la intrarea sovieticilor în Bucureşti; entuziasmul – inadmisibil la un sceptic ca el – provocat de înfrîngerea nemţilor, strigătul lui: „au crăpat! au crăpat!“, uimitor de vulgar; lipsa totală de inteligenţă – „ca să mă exprim aşa...“, mi-a precizat unul – cu care descoperă candoarea în ochii unui soldat rus; imbecilitatea – „ţi-o spun de-a dreptul...“ – cu care le justifică sălbăticia; şi mai ales, mai ales, pagina aceea din septembrie 1944 cînd „Vivi“ Vişoianu îi povesteşte, la întoarcerea de la Moscova, unde semnase armistiţiul, cum se comportase Molotov în tratativele cu noi: la orice obiecţie a delegaţiei române în faţa acelor condiţii de groază, Molotov nu avea decît o singură replică: „Ce-aţi căutat la Stalingrad?“. E o pagină insuportabilă....

Je me suis fait très mal voir de la foule en leur donnant quelques sols - Et j'ai entendu de jolis mots à la Prud'homme. Cette haine-là tient à quelque chose de très profond et de complexe. On la retrouve chez tous les gens d'ordre. C'est la haine que l'on porte au Bédouin, à l'hérétique, au philosophe, au solitaire, au poète. Et il y a de la peur dans cette haine.

Mircea Mihăieş: Sper să arate calm şi liniar. Detest surprizele — chiar şi pe cele plăcute. În copilărie, emisiunea mea favorită era „Vreau să ştiu”. Da, vreau întotdeauna să ştiu, aici şi acum! Prin urmare, parodiind un titlu franţuzesc, aş vrea ca nopţile mele să arate mai bine decât zilele voastre!

• Istodor: Supranaturalul te bântuie? De ce?

Mircea Mihăieş: Parcă mi-ai fi citit biografia! Nu ştiu dacă mă bântuie, dar sigur mă amuză!

• Istodor: Încălzirea globală a existat pentru tine? Cum?

Mircea Mihăieş: Printr-o cumplită enervare pe Al Gore! Câtă nesimţire: să faci avere punând la rotisor restul planetei! Altminteri, m-aş vedea ecologist într-o lume în care verdele n-ar sta atât de cuminte-confortabil sub drapelul roş-purpuriu al bolşevismului!
